Frog Hollow, Hartford, CT

This mural is painted in a predominantly Puerto Rican community on the south side of Hartford.

It’s a tight-knit neighborhood with a tremendous sense of pride in their history and the local residents who’ve made it the vibrant, thriving place it is.

I painted this mural with the community and two support artists: Jaii Renee and Deka Henry.

The community voted on 34 local heroes and chose to highlight 9: Maria Sanchez, Edna Negron, Elba Cruz Schulman, Ana Alfaro, Jorge Rivera, Leticia Cotto, Yessica Amparo, Rev. Julie Ramirez and Juan Fuentes.

Brought to you by Southside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance SINA in partnership with the Hartford Public Library, funded by Hartford Foundation and Love Your Block Hartford.

I feel privileged that I got to be a part of this special project. From the speeches at the unveiling today, it’s clear that these nine heroes have had a big impact on the community, and their murals and stories will continue to inspire future generations here. Wittenberg mural

Mural - 18' 3" X 8' feet for the Walls of Wittenberg's at Down to Earth Healing and Massage on 105 W. Vinal St. Wittenberg, WI. I painted it in my Connecticut studio on Polytab fabric this past Winter 2021, and this Spring I adhered it to aluminum panels. The mural was delivered to be installed on the exterior wall of the building. I worked closely with Kristy, the business owner, and Elaine of W.O.W. and came up with exactly what they wanted.

I love painting on Polytab (non-woven fabric). It allows me work in my studio (in all weathers) at my own pace. It can be permanently glued directly to the wall or on panels. Video
